Abstract: Because of the rich fault and joint in the open-pit west stope slope in Heishan iron mine, large area landslip occurred, and it threatens the safety production. The in-site recorded and described and engineering drill measures were adopted, the properties of fault and joint in the open-pit west stope slope was obtained. The stability of the slope was analyzed, and the countermeasures were proposed. Some countermeasures have conducted, such as, the flood intercepting trench, the reserved broad stairs in 770 m level and shotcrete and rock bolt support strengthen in the broad stairs. It eliminates the threat of safety production with 770 m level upper slope to the lower slope. It grantees safety production in the deep open-pit mine.
Key words: Broad stairs, Dry laid stone protective wall, Shotcrete and rock bolt support
