Abstract: The southern district Ⅱ of Xishimen iron mine is gently inclined and medium thick orebody. In the deep mining, the dip angle and the thickness decrease and the unstable floor rock becomes thick. Sublevel caving is still in application,so there are some critical problems, such as single level mining and great loss of residual ore. According to the occurrence and the stability of rock mass,an improved sublevel caving scheme that loading in trench and ore drawing in drift is purposed in this paper. The results show that the new scheme meets conditions of rocks well and mining is safe and efficient.
