Analysis of Factors for Tailings Dams Accidents Causing Disaster at Home and Abroad

Abstract

Abstract: Through collecting the data of accidents of tailings reservoir，the relationship between accidents of the tailings dams and the height of the tailings dams，the dam construction technology，and the factors for the tailings dams causing disaster are analyzed. The analysis of 147 accidents of the tailings dams in the world indicates that the major factor for the tailings dams accidents is unusual rainfall，following by earthquake and management etc. The study on 42 accidents of the tailings dams in China shows that the major causes of the tailings dams accidents are the instable tailings dams，illegal construction，unusual rainfall and so on.
