Abstract: Bangpu molybdenum-copper ore from Mozhugongka County, Tibet was crushed by high pressure grinding rolls(HPGR) and the traditional jaw crusher. The particle size characteristics of the two crushing products were analyzed, the work indexes of ball mill for two different crushing manner were measured, and the effect on subsequent ball milling-molybdenum flotation by different comminuting manner were studied. The results showed that the fine fraction content of crushing products by HPGR is much more than that by jaw crusher and its particle size distribution is more uniform. The Bond work index of ball mill for the products by HPGR is at least 9.05% lower than that by jaw crusher. The best grinding fineness by HPGR is 65% of the products lower than 0.074 mm, while that by jaw crusher is 75% lower than 0.074 mm. Meanwhile, the Bond work index of ball mill by HPGR is 10.87% lower than that by jaw crusher, but molybdenum recovery by HPGR decreases by 2.32%.
