Abstract: Experiments and numerical simulation were conducted to study the effect of explosive vibration on the stability of slope and civil constructions which are close to the open pit mine. Experiment results show that: under the current explosion vibration at open pit mine, the maximum three dimensional combined vibration velocity is much less than the allowable safety velocity, thus concluding that the explosive vibration has little effect on the stability of the civil construction. The simulation results have verified the conclusion. Meanwhile the maximum three dimensional combined vibration velocity of the slope is within the range of allowable safety velocity. The safety factors of the slope under explosive vibration ranged from 1.742 to 1.843 through numerical simulation method, indicating that the slope is in stable state under explosive vibration. With both the criterion of Safety Regulations for Blasting and the numerical simulation analysis, the stability of constructions can be effectively estimated.
