Abstract: In order to investigate the differences of gold deposits metallogenic characteristics in north and south areas of China, using the tracer ability of rare earth elements, the paper analyzes statistically the REE features of different gold deposits in north and south ChinaThe results show that there is a significant difference for total amount of rare earth elements in different parts of the gold oreThe highest is in Jinshan gold mine of Jiangxi province, with the total amount of REE 16639×10-6,while the lowest is in Wulaga gold mine of Heilongjiang province, with ∑ REE of 347×10-6,which concluded that the depth of ore-forming materials of gold deposits in different regions is not the same; Most of the gold deposits exhibit significant enrichment of light rare earth elements(LREE),the fractionation between HREE and LREE is higher, and the curves of REE distribution tilted to the rightBut the REE patterns is more gentle in the gold mine of Yangzhaiyu in Henan province and Wulaga in Heilongjiang province, and the fractionation between HREE and LREE being not pronouncedHeilongjiang Wulaga and Liaoning Baiyun gold deposits have Eu positive anomaly while the remaining gold deposit gold deposits have Eu negative anomalyThe reasons for these may be that different deposits have different metallogenic environment .
