Abstract: Based on summarizing the three-stage practice and exploration of performance evaluation of geological survey project in China，various types of performance evaluation for different purposes are proposed: for reflecting the role and contribution of the geological survey project; for increasing the internal management of the geological survey project; for monitoring and decision-making of the geological survey projectAnd the characteristics of the various types of performance evaluation are briefly describedFrom the aspect of three changing ideas，two evaluation systems，and four evaluation steps，the methods and procedures of performance evaluation for the purpose of internal management are highlightedAt last，the conclusions are pointed out: the performance evaluation should be taken as a key measure for the management of geological survey project; the methods and index system of geological survey project performance evaluation should be further improved; and the performance evaluation，technical review，and budget review of geological survey project should be integrated.
