Abstract: In order to explore new ways for large-scale utilization of iron tailings resource, the mechanical property and durability of materials for pavement base at different dosage of polypropylene fibers was studied based on the mass ratio of cement, gravel, iron ore tailings and modified enzyme was 5∶30∶68∶2 by unconfined compression tests. The results showed that, with the polypropylene fiber dosage of 1.5 kg/m3,tensile strength and flexural strength of the sample reached 0.396 MPa and 1.641 MPa respectively, the ratio of flexural strength to unconfined compressive strength is 0.27,the unconfined compressive strength at both freeze-thaw and dry wet cycle will higher than 5 MPa,the frost resistance coefficient is greater than 0.88,the water stability is more than 0.88,the anti flushing ratio is 0.139 g/min,the mass loss ratio of the sample is 1.92%.Various mechanical properties and durability properties can meet the requirements of expressway and first-class highway.Iron ore tailings using as main raw materials for pavement base of expressway is feasible.
