Abstract: Through single mineral flotation test, the effects of Na+,K+,Ca2+,Mg2+,Fe3+,Al3+ six metal ions on flotation system of kyanite-sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) were studied. The results showed that monovalent ions Na+,K+ have no effect on flotation behavior of kyanite-SDS; Divalent ions Ca2+,Mg2+ exhibit inhibition effects on flotation of kyanite-SDS,and Ca2+ has more intensity; Trivalent ions Fe3+,Al3+ exhibit activation on flotation of kyanite-SDS,and Al3+ owns more activating ability. The mechanism of inhibition and activation of divalent ions (representative by Ca2+) and trivalent ions (representative by Fe3+) is analyzed by solution chemistry. The results showed that in the acidic medium the main component of calcium ion is Ca2+,which is easy to form the insoluble matter together with the sulfonic acid group of SDS,consuming large amounts of pharmacy and exhibiting inhibition.Iron ion has the different active ingredients on playing the role of activation in kyanite-SDS system at different pH.When pH<2.5,FeOH2+ and Fe(OH)2+ were the effective components on playing the role of activation, when pH≥2.5,Fe(OH)3(s) was the effective component on playing the role of activation.
