Abstract: The discharge of wastewater containing heavy metal is considered to be one of the most important reasons for the accumulation of heavy metal in environment.While，adopting bentonite in heavy metal from wastewater has become a current research hot spot due to its excellent adsorptive characteristics and low cost.In order to have a more comprehensive understanding of the adsorption process of heavy metal with bentonite，the adsorption process of heavy metal with bentonite on the basis of the analysis of related literatures was introduced.The adsorption influencing factors，including adsorption isotherms，adsorption kinetics and adsorption thermodynamic，adsorption mechanism and desorption were introduced and reviewed.Finally，the current problems are concluded and the direction of further research about the adsorption of heavy metal with bentonite is pointed out to promote theoretical support for the practical wastewater treatment with this technology.
