Abstract: Magnetizing roasting pretreatment has been proven as a typical and effective method for the beneficiation of refractory iron ores.Magnetizing roasting via a laboratory-batch scale fluidized reactor was carried out for the beneficiation of a carbonates-bearing hematite ore,and it was performed under mixed H2 and N2 atmosphere. The optimized conditions were determined as gas flow 8 m3/h,hydrogen concentration 30%,roasting temperature 650 ℃ and reduction time 8 s.The roasted products ground to 85% -0.038 mm,via low intensity magnetic separation at field intensity of 80 kA/m,iron concentrate containing 65.48% Fe and recovery of 88.26% was achieved. The results provided a new way for the efficient utilization of carbonates-bearing hematite iron ores.
