Abstract: With pyrite as adsorbent and CN- as adsorbate, the impact of adsorption time, solution pH value, dosage of pyrite on adsorption effect are investigated. Meanwhile, the infrared spectroscopy detection method is adopted to analyze the difference before or after CN- absorption on pyrite surface, and adsorption results are fitted with Langmuir adsorption model. The results show that pyrite quickly adsorbs sodium cyanide and reach balance after 1 min with the maximum adsorption load up to 3.81 mg/g. pH has little influence on adsorption of cyanide ion by pyrite; Cyanide ion have a strong bonding adsorption action with pyrite. Adsorption of Pyrite particles to cyanide ion is a monomolecular chemical adsorption process.
