Abstract: The reasonable stacking parameters of waste dump would achieve the purpose of reducing the dumping cost and maintaining the waste dump security. On the base of multi- objective programming model for optimizing the stacking parameters, and considering the practical situation of an open-pit mine at home, the relationship between the single bench stability, the stability of the overall waste dump, and the stacking parameters was determined firstly. Then, the functional relationships express between the stacking parameters and the transport and management cost of waste rocks was established by considering the waste transport process and the spatial geometry evolution laws with the enlargement of the waste dump area.Based on this, the stacking parameters optimizing model of waste dump was obtained under the purpose of keeping the stability of waste dump and the reducing the dumping costs. The optimal stacking parameters was solved by the model as follows:the number of dump steps is 4,the minimum dump bench width value is 57 m,the height of single step is 30 m,the height of each dumping bench is 120 m,and the slope angle of waste dump is 26°.This result was in accord with the actual situation.
