Abstract: Underground Mining lead to rock deformation and ground movement.Accurate prediction on the scope of strata movement is an important basis for mine design.First，three types of methods for predicting the rock movements are discussed，and suitable conditions and existed problems for each method are pointed out.And the comprehensive theory and prediction method based on analogies，numerical analysis and on-site monitoring are put forward.On this basis，the structure and modules of “the Support System for Predicting the Mining Strata Movement for Metal Deposits” which has being studied by the researchers，and its application prospect are introduced.
