Abstract: Slope seismic dynamic response and stability have attracted common attention in the engineering and academic circles. The dynamic response and stability of the high rocky slope at an opencast mine were analyzed with ANSYS program in the following way. Firstly, the static finite element analysis was made to determine the initial stress field and the possible slip surface. Then, the slope dynamic response was analyzed and the stress, displacement, velocity and acceleration were studied. Finally, the slope local stability of the key slope parts was calculated and evaluated by introducing a concept of unit safety degree. On this basis, the slope integral stability was assessed by calculating the safety factor of sliding surface and checked by quasi-static approach. Satisfactory results were obtained, providing a scientific basis for the dynamic safety evaluation of this slope.
