Abstract: An iron ore contains limonite and hematite which are its main iron minerals and silicates such as kaolinite which are its main gangue minerals. The ore is very apt to produce slime in the grinding process, leading to a deteriorated beneficiability.Tests are made on the ore by adopting processes including desliming by selective flocculation, magnetic separation, flotation and gravity separation. The test results show that the separation process consisting of enhanced pulp dispersion and high intensity magnetic separation is the most suitable one, which can obtain an iron concentrate grading about 54.12% at a recovery of 62.16% from an iron ore assaying around 37.34% iron, rather  good  metallurgical performances.
