Abstract: A iron ore of Yunnan is mixing iron ore, it is hard to separate by conventional recovery techniques for micro-fine iron ore. The method with coal-based direct reduction followed by low intensity magnetic separation is presented for this kind iron ore. The results show that the direct-reduction iron concentrate with grading 91.20% and recovery 87.05% is obtained under  the conditions of roasted ore by two-stage grinding and low intensity magnetic separation process with the weight ratios of iron ore/lignite/CaO as 100∶20∶10, the reduction roasting temperature of 1 200 ℃ for 50 min, the roasted ores-grinding fineness of 325 mesh 81.34% and 92.41% in the first and second grinding classification, two stage low intensity magnetic separation of 187.10 and 143.31 kA/m. The study offer the technical support for development and utilization of refractory iron ore.
