Abstract: There are still 38.74% of iron in an iron tailing of Jiangxi, but 98.49% of them exists in form of limonite. In order to provide technical reference for comprehensive utilization of tailings, and taking Henan Pingdingshan anthracite as reductant, the process of magnetization roasting-magnetic separation was studied. The results showed that under conditions of the mass fraction of tailings + pulverized coal 5% at temperature of 850 ℃ for magnetization roasting 60 min, together with first grinding fineness of -0.037 mm 92 %, second grinding fineness of -0.037 mm 97%, field strength 192 kA/m in rough concentration, and field strength 170 kA/m in clean concentration, the roasted products are treated by the low intensity magnetic separation process of two-stage grinding and one-roughing two-cleaning, or the process of two-stage grinding and one-rouging three-cleaning. Then, iron concentrate with Fe grade of 55.75%, 56.24% and Fe recovery of 78.50%, 74.81% was achieved separately.
