Abstract: For researching the deformation and consolidation of dam established on deep and thick silt soft soil foundation treated by plastic draining plate, and with the use of the modified Cambridge model based on Biot consolidation theory, the finite element analysis model soft soil foundation was established to calculate out the distribution of the dam and foundation settlement, horizontal displacement and pore water pressure.Comparing the calculated results with measured data, the conclusion is that the maximum horizontal displacement of the upper reaches of the dam is close to 0.28 m,the maximum horizontal displacement of the upper section is 0.25 m.The maximum value of the vertical settlement at the monitoring position is calculated at about 1.8 m,and the measured settlement value is 1.76 m.Therefore, the calculated results are in good agreement with the actual data. The error lies in the acceptable range. Then, based on this, the distribution characteristics of the consolidation deformation and the dissipation of pore water pressure are analyzed. It provides the theoretical basis and practical analysis method for the safe construction and stable operation of the project and other similar projects.
