Beneficiation Test of a Low Grade Porphyry Copper-molybdenum Ore Containing Graphite

Abstract: A low grade porphyry copper molybdenum ore containing 0.37% copper,0.0096% molybdenum,and copper sulfide accounted for 89.19% of total copper,and molybdenum sulfide accounted for 85.42% of total molybdenum.Beyond that,associated iron and precious metals such as gold and rhenium could be recovered.A small amount of flake graphite in the ore would affect flotation of molybdenum.To determine the beneficiation technology of the ore,dressing experiment was carried out.The results show that molybdenum concentrate of floatation containing 36.33% Mo,1.69% Cu,molybdenum recovery of 68.12%,and copper concentrate containing 19.24% Cu,2.42 g/t gold,0.095% Mo,copper recovery of 84.94%,and iron concentrate containing 66.19% Fe,iron recovery of 50.87%,could be obtained by the flowsheet of iso-flotation of molybdenum and copper with one roughing-three cleaning,Cu-Mo separation with one roughing-four cleaning-one scavenging,strengthening floatation of copper with one roughing-three cleaning-two scavenging,low intensity magnetic separation with one roughing-one cleaning-one scavenging.Purification of molybdenum concentrate of floatation by gravity separation,molybdenum concentrate containing 49.03% Mo,618.46 g/t Re,molybdenum recovery of 58.35%,rhenium recovery of 27.22% could be obtained.
