Numerical Simulation on Cavity Formation Process by Progressive Large Diameter Empty Hole Spiral Cut Blasting

Abstract: The process of cavity formation by progressive large diameter empty hole spiral cut blasting is simulated by ANSYS/LS-DYNA.The intuitional graphics of the change of cavity in the explosive volume expansion process was obtained.Numerical results show that the blasting wave delivers in the form of cylinder wave, and the empty hole plays as a free surface.Meanwhile, the theory rationality of cavity formation by progressive large diameter empty hole spiral cut blasting is verified.The cavity formation process by cut blasting can be visualized in the numerical simulation study.It is expected that the result of the study can forecast the cut blasting result and optimize the design of blasting technical parameters as positive.
